Accompany us on a virtual tour through our area 'Hugo Boss Platz'.

Cloths and textiles have a long tradition in the former area 'Gaenslen & Völter', now Hugo Boss Platz, in which the company of the same name started its textile empire at that time.

The second luxury area opened in early 2019 and with this area the Outletcity was able to expand its already extensive range of popular premium and luxury brands. In addition to the exclusive fashion brands, top restaurateurs such as Starbucks, Marché Mövenpick, Almresi and Amorino have also joined the brand list.

THEN: Start of an empire for fabrics and textiles

Events

Scarves and textiles have a long tradition here. Why? Together with its predecessor, the Raifstänger cloth factory founded in 1820, the Gaenslen & Völter cloth factory was the oldest and for a long time the most important Metzingen company. The men behind the textile empire were Heinrich Gaenslen and Christian Völter.

At times, the company employed more than 500 people who worked diligently to stretch, dye and weave - until fine wool was created for sheepskin suits for men, suits for women and upholstery fabrics for the automotive industry. The Robert Bräuchle leather factory located at Reutlinger Straße also shaped the location as a thriving centre for textiles and leather. In order to build on this flourishing past, international luxury brands are now taking the plunge.
